Could you catch or at least break a deadly fall from a child falling 100 feet?

Just the other day an 11 year old girl died from falling from the Giant Ferris Wheel, she fell 100 feet right in front of a lot of people. If I saw her fall, I think my instinct would be to attempt to break her fall from being deadly. I know at the very least we both would be injured, but if it would be possible to save her life I would attempt it.
