Makeouts on Ferris Wheels?

Okay so my friend and I were at this festival held in our town, and I was there with my boyfriend. And after we were there for a couple of minutes he told me his friend was there. So he left to go get him. When they came back he introduced us and whatever. So we went on the bumper cars... and i was with my bf and my friend was with the other guy (lets call him Nick) so her and nick were together like no big deal. Nothing happened. Then we went on the pirate ship thing and they were in the row before us and they were holding hands (although me and my bf didn't know that) then we went on the ferris wheel. And we were all gonna go together but instead we went separately. They were like two away from us and we could kinda see them. When we got off my friend told me that they made out. And im guessing nick told my bf too. So later in the night we went on again but together, then me and my bf got off but nick and my friend stayed on. When we left my friend told me that they made out again, and she says that something happened during the kiss that made her think it was like more then just a "one time " deal. but they both don't really like each other, so what does this mean?
