A random Family guy question?

I was just watching an episode of family guy, more specifically the episode petoria. On this episode a scene where peter said to brian 'well at least you're sticking with me' brian said 'well, I've stuck with you for worse' cut to a scene where peter and brian were on a ferris wheel and peter was on fire and screaming. I was wondering if there is any special meaning behind this scene or if it was just a random thing the writers threw in.
