Why did they make lots of mistakes in the green lantern movie?

one is that Hal Jordan is Parallax and that's how he dies but in the movie they have him kill himself, and Carol Ferris isn't supposed to know that Hal is Green Lantern but failed with that too, why so many mistakes?
